12 team double elimination bracket
A 12-team double elimination bracket has 22 games, or 23 if the grand final needs a reset. Every team plays at least twice; a team is out after its second loss. It uses a 16-slot bracket, so 4 top seeds get a bye.

Frequently asked questions
How many games are in a 12 team double elimination bracket?
22 or 23. Every team except the champion loses twice (12 × 2 − 2 = 22); if the losers-bracket winner wins the first grand final, one more game is played.
How many byes are in a 12 team bracket?
4. Brackets work in powers of two, so 12 teams go into a 16-slot bracket and the 4 empty slots become byes for the top seeds.
How many rounds are there?
4 winners-bracket rounds, 6 losers-bracket rounds, and a grand final that may need a second game.
How many games does each team play?
At least 2, at most 9 (a team that loses its first game and then wins the losers bracket and both finals).
How long will it take?
At about 40 minutes a game on 2 courts, around 8 hours; on 4 courts, around 5 hours, since later rounds wait for earlier ones.
Can I print it blank?
Yes. Choose "Blank lines" under Names on the bracket and press Print / PDF for an empty 12-team bracket to fill in by hand. The printable bracket page has every size.
