What changed for 2027
The NCAA expanded both Division I basketball tournaments from 68 to 76 teams starting in 2027. The old First Four (4 games) becomes a 12-game Opening Round, played on the Tuesday and Wednesday of the first week. Once it is over, 64 teams are left and the bracket from the First Round on looks exactly like it always has: four regions, seeds 1 to 16, a Final Four and one champion.
Most printable brackets online still show the 68-team layout with four play-in games. This one has room for all 12 Opening Round games, each with a line for where the winner goes (seed and region), so your sheet matches the 2027 bracket when it is revealed.

How the bracket is seeded
Each region seeds its 16 teams from 1 (strongest) to 16. First-round games always pair seeds that add up to 17, laid out so the top seeds can only meet late:
- Top half of a region: 1 vs 16, 8 vs 9, 5 vs 12, 4 vs 13
- Bottom half: 6 vs 11, 3 vs 14, 7 vs 10, 2 vs 15
The winners of 1–16 and 8–9 meet in the Second Round, so a 1 seed's likely opponent there is an 8 or 9. The 1 and 2 seeds of a region can only meet in the Elite Eight, the regional final. The four region winners make the Final Four.
How to run an office pool with this sheet
- Print one blank bracket per player, or share the bracket maker link so everyone fills theirs in on a phone.
- Collect brackets before the First Round tips off (picks for the Opening Round are optional).
- Score each correct pick with the common doubling system: 1 point in the First Round, then 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 for the champion. Every round is worth 32 points in total, so late rounds matter as much as the first.
- Break ties with a guess at the total points in the championship game.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the new 76-team bracket?
Yes. From 2027 the men's and women's tournaments have 76 teams. Twelve Opening Round games come first, and their winners join the usual 64-team bracket. Our "2027 format" prints the 12 Opening Round boxes above the full bracket; "64 teams only" prints the classic layout.
How many games are in the 2027 tournament?
75: the 12 Opening Round games, then 63 games in the 64-team bracket (32 + 16 + 8 + 4 in the regions, 2 in the Final Four, and the national championship).
When can I fill in the real teams?
The field is announced on Selection Sunday, March 14, 2027. Print the blank bracket now and write the teams in, or open the bracket maker, paste the 16 teams of each region and print it filled in.
How do I get a PDF?
Press Print blank bracket (or Print / PDF above the bracket) and choose "Save as PDF" as the printer. The bracket is scaled to one landscape page.
What paper size works best?
Letter or A4 landscape works; the 64 lines are small but readable. For an office wall or a pool sheet with room for handwriting, print on tabloid (11×17) or A3.
Which regions play each other in the Final Four?
The pairing changes every year and is set by the selection committee. We print the two left-hand regions meeting in one semifinal and the two right-hand regions in the other; rename the regions to match the official bracket on Selection Sunday.
